School Story
My most fond memory is being on the wrestling team for at least the first two years, freshman and sophomore at West Campus. Freshman coach Chris Tomalla and sophomore coach Bud Wieck. I did pretty well at the JV tournament at East Leyden High school in Franklin Park. Also, remember Larry Tenpas; very tough and hard-nosed, but he was a good man. Loved taking the school buses to the various meets and getting crazy on the bus.
I also thought that our class of 1975 had the most pretty and adorable cheerleaders of all time for wrestling and basketball. For wresting I remember Jan Odorizzi whom I also went to junior high with at Oak Crest in Zion.
And......how about our great 1975 basketball team that could have won the state championship for our final year, but lost to eventual state champion Chicago Phillips in the Quarter Finals. The players were Ernest Gurley, Haywood Campbell, Chris Calhoun, Eric Garrett, Greg O'Bryant, and Angelo Kyle!!!!
Yeah.......Go class of '75!!!!
