after looking through this site, and seeing what others have written, i decided that -- especially since i will NOT be attending the reunion any more -- i needed to contribute a bit more.
i s'pose my classmates would mostly remember me as a bit of a class clown, who drank a lot, smoked a lot of pot, and didn't really try very hard in class.
it's pretty safe to say that when i left wisconsin to go to college in minneapolis nothing changed. i 'studied' at the U of M for seven years, on and off. never did get that degree! i bounced around from profession to profession, working in clothing retail, record label promotion, corporate fitness... eventually leaving minneapolis for many wrong reasons to move to florida. that move was mostly because i couldn't deal with me. but the problem is that wherever you go, there you are. so i relocated to florida, continued to make a mess of things, and FINALLY made some massive life changes. at 31 years old, i finally had to pass on the party. if you want more details, feel free to e-mail me.
the long and short of it is/was this: sometimes, old ways don't work any longer. so i tried new ways... and now, nearly seven years later, i am living a life that i never could've imagined. i no longer work for 'the man'. i don't have a cubicle, office, or building to go to. i don't have a boss. DJing is far from work. it's play.
i'm blessed to have found the work i have now... we get one life. that's it. i love mine today. but damn if it didn't take some serious bumps in the road to get on this path!
