Your story from 1989 and on:
I met Barbara Vogler at the Wayne State Music Camp two months after graduation, and we both graduated from Wayne State in 1993 - we were married that same year. She taught band and I taught choir at Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla for two years before I decided to go and get my Masters Degree in Choral Conducting from the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City. I graduated in 1997, and got a job at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa as the Director of Choral Activities. I love teaching college students and have been here 22 years now.
The biggest event in 1997 though was the birth of our first son William August. In 1999, Matthew James was born, and Anna Catherine was born in 2003. Barb home-schooled our children for 4 years - and 2 have now graduated from Spirit Lake High School - they are the joy of my life.
William graduated from the University of Iowa this May, with a triple major in Astronomy, Math, and Physics - all way above my head - and is getting married to a wonderful lady in 2 weeks! He then will be employed at Parkview Church in Iowa City, leading the college ministry and church Praise Team (playing piano and singing), while his wife finishes college, before they both head off to graduate school. Matthew is arriving back from a 2-month Mission Trip to China today, and is an Exercise Science Major at University of Iowa. Anna is looking at majoring in music when she graduates from high school in 2 years. (I could brag more about my wife and kids, but I will save that for the reuinion :)
I'm not sure what else to say, but have included my "professional" bio that I send out when I judge or do clinics. It's very dry and boring, so feel free to skip it - my favorite part of my job is leading Laker Life, which is the Christian campus ministry - I've been on many Mission trips with college students and love working with them - it keeps me young! And all that I do, and any meager talents I have are not because of me, but from God.
