Lynn Davis Carter

After graduation, I attended Wake Forest University, majored in Spanish; met my husband, an NCSU forestry grad, married in 1972, moved to Raleigh; then moved to Bryson City, and finally to Hendersonville. I taught middle school English for 33 years total, retired in 2005. We then moved to Asheville and are enjoying our retirement.

I still have great memories, some of them scary, from Mr. Haupt/Mr. Smith's classes in 8th grade. At Tuscola, I loved working on the student council and the yearbook. Mrs. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Donohue challenged me to learn to think and to love to learn. Both very important life lessons and compliments to those two tough teachers. I still remember Houck taking a late paper to Mrs. Donohue's house, walking up to the house from the Interstate. She told us that story in class the next day:)
