After graduation worked briefly for my father's business. Married Madelene Swartout in 1976. Left my father's employment for ACME Electric in Cuba, NY in 1981. Enlisted in the Army March 1984 and retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant Sept 30, 2004. My duty assignments included 3 years in Germany, 1.5 years at Ft. Bragg, NC, two 1-year tours in S. Korea, 3 years at Ft. Hood, TX, 3 years as an Army Recruiter in Potsdam, NY and the rest of my career was at Ft. Drum, NY where I retired from. I served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. I spent the turn of the century serving in the Bosnia-Herzegovina Peace keeping mission.
Madelene and I settled down after the Army in Harrisville, NY, just outside Ft. Drum. I was employed from July 2004 until I retired in 2022 by MX Petroleum, Massena, NY. I drove a fuel truck delivering heating oil, diesel and gasoline throughout St. Lawrence County.
Our three children have given us ten grandchildren. In October 2024, in an effort to escape the extreme snow of northern NY, we bought a house in Eastover, NC about two miles from our second daughter and her family and moved Christmas Eve 2024, putting our home in New York up for sale.
