Lynne Ashley (Bell)

Linda was a dear friend of mine. We met the summer before our Freshman year and clicked right away. We did many things together; going to school dances with our boyfriends and out to eat, sleeping over at each other's house, going to the show, dancing and singing at her house after school and just having fun. Our Sophomore year we didn't spend much time together but we sure did that summer and our Junior year. She picked me up every morning for school many times with Linda and Susie Kerns. We were always on time! She took me to her house after school for awhile and then home. She enjoyed being at my house where it was always noisy and full of excitement and I enjoyed being at her house where it was quiet and she had her own room. We had a few classes together that year and were in Lil Abner which was so much fun. She picked me up and took me home from the rehearsals. We went to the drive-in almost every weekend, to Disneyland a couple of times, to the County Fair, to the beach, for rides in her car just singing to the songs on the radio, staying up all night talking and telling jokes and laughing (on a weekend night of course), and just having fun being with each other. She graduated early and I really missed her. We kept in touch over the years. She was my hair model for a contest at the Mink Collar where I worked at the end of 1966. Then I was gone for three years, two in Heidelberg, Germany and one in Fort Ord, CA. When I came home we reconnected. She was working as a clothing manager at Zody's. She had an apartment with her cute little boy. We saw each other from time to time. She was having back trouble and went in for surgery. While she was on the operating table her lungs collapsed and they couldn't revive her. I was in shock when her Mother called and told me what happened. I think about her often and remember all the good times. I can still see her pretty smile and big beautiful blue eyes. She was always dressed nicely and had her make-up on perfectly. I can hear her laugh and her darling little sneeze. I love and miss you Linda! You're not suffering any more!

Good Evening, Lynne Ashley Bell...I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Linda Kurtz.  What a shame that she passed away after her operation.  What a beautiful person, and one that was admired by all of our classmates.  I was hoping to see her at the 50th reunion.  She was so possitive, and had such a wonderful out going personality.  It is so hard at this time to know that EHS has lost a truly be-loved classmate.  Thank you for the e-mail regarding Linda.  Our prayers are will her and her loved ones.  From Larry Fritz
