Edgewood High School combined with West Covina High School in 1988, mostly for financial reasons. The new West Covina High STUDENTS voted on and chose the colors Maroon and Gold and the Bulldog as mascot. Faculty and some staff moved from Edgewood into positions at the West Covina campus. Trojan Green and Gold and Spartan Blue and White and the Alma Maters of each were "retired" to form a new school, but with the name still West Covina High School. A shock and trauma for many for many years, but today's school spirit and faculty and staff and students continue to be excellent representatives for the city of West Covina. The Edgewood High School campus was converted to a 6th--8th grade middle school in 1988, and remains so, however, now part of the campus is a new high school and is called Edgewood High, but the colors and mascot are different than ours were.

School Story

I have been fortunate to graduate from Edgewood High School with the class of 1965 as a Trojan; to join the faculty of West Covina High School in 1972 as a Spartan; and to continue teaching there until 2013 as a Bulldog. I live in the Pasadena area, but I love to follow WCHS football and visit friends still teaching at either campus. Several faculty members from Edgewood became my colleagues at West Covina, which made it extra special for me. I always felt at home!

Happy Birthday, Earline! It was so nice to see you at the 60th Reunion and we even have a photo of us in a group. I realized a little later we didn't have much of a conversation, but it felt like we did just by being there with the whole group. Best Wishes in the New School Year--retired teachers are on the same seasonal schedule, but without going back! Halloween, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving rollin' right up. Don't even want to mention anything else! Enjoy them all.

Sue! You're so good at posting "Happy Birthday!" wishes, and now it's almost Labor Day instead of the real day--August 25th. I'm fortunate to have gotten to know you through this site and a couple of reunions; I decided to follow you and a few others' lead in connecting with classmates from another Century! Remember how important it was to "look good" in those awkward high school days? And now everybody seems to first say "You look great!" when we meet up in person. The very idea makes me feel "Young at Heart" at least. Enjoy your home and grandchildren and so many of your other blessings with all your heart. Peggy

Hi Pat. I'm catching up on birthdays, so Happy End of August Birthday to you! I hope your "Family Event" was fabulous. I didn't realize Vancouver, WA, is right on the Hood River. You live in a Destiny City and close to the Big City Portland. That's a Cool Location and your birthday month must have some gorgeous days. Hope I'll see you next May 2nd for the EHS All Class Picnic in West Covina, back in "the Hood!"

Happy Birthday, Rick! Through FB conversations it looks like your profile here concerning "children" needs updating. We've spoken about your family's fascinating roots and I continue to admire your "patriarchy." (I like that concept!) Best wishes as you continue your lofty role as "Leader of the Pack." Vroom!

Hi Cathy. I've been checking profiles as we prepared for the #60 Reunion and I'm so happy I know you well from many years working together in WCUSD! We've been in touch through work, me teaching both of your brilliant children at WCHS, meeting your husband Bob at the EHS #50 Reunion, and, of course, other in-person gatherings and the lifeline of FB! But, I didn't know today was your birthday. Surprise! Happy Birthday!!!! So sorry you weren't able to attend the Reunion, but I hope Bob is recovering well from his illness and you're both enjoying those bitchin' seashore breezes. If only it were an "Endless Summer!"

Happy Birthday to you! I've never heard of Washington, UTAH. Traveling vicariously with Google, you're right there side by side with St. George. That's a city I've passed through many times heading to Salt Lake City or so many other gorgeous sites in that state. Old Highway 91 sent me north, apparently to nowhere. Sounds like an adventurous Road Trip! Or maybe I'd go southwest to Fun and Fabulous Las Vegas! I hope you celebrate your birthday in a way that suits YOU perfectly!

Happy Birthday, Judy! It's a great day for peach pie or cake. I love the picture you posted with your daughter. But you still need ice cream no matter what!

Hi, Mary Anne Williams! Your profile is soooo short, but you're still part of the EHS c/o '65. I've gotten to know quite a few classmates since going to our #50 Reunion, and we just celebrated #60 this month! The Alumni Committee for the annual EHS All Class Picnic is also an event many of us have starting attending. Next year it will be on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in West Covina. Many details will be announced later. If it's not possible to get there, join us here on this website. 2015 is 10 years ago and too long to be "missing." We're trying to reconnect with classmates and celebrate many life experiences since our "Commencement." Oh, there's a lot of people getting Happy Birthday Wishes in the month of July! Happy Birthday, Mary Anne. With best regards, Peggy Test.

Happy Birthday, Nancy! I didn't realize it was the same date as the EHS All Class Picnic this year. Maybe you can go the next time on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Hurst Ranch venue. It's always fun to talk with classmates, even though they're adults now. Mostly. See ya!

It was great to see you at the Reunion and tell tales (pun) from the past. Picnic as usual--a lot of fun. Happy Birthday! Did Rita say "80"? Let's not push it!

Happy Birthday Michel! July is firecrackers and picnics: "some of my favorite things!" We'll include you in a birthday toast at our #60 Reunion on Friday, the 18th, and another at the EHS All Class Picnic on Saturday. Hair of the dog! I'm not really sure what that means, but they say it in the movies. Have a great day.

Birthday Greetings today, and a Big Happy Birthday Hug on Friday at the Reunion. Another chance to celebrate all those classmate July Birthdays and "just being there." See ya!

A "Happy Birthday Wish" and a "Hopeful Wish" you will join the #60 Reunion this Friday, the 18th. I'm echoing Sue Heath Bright's comment that there are lots of EHS friends who would love to see you and lots of friends who truly love you. It's a rare opportunity to ever congregate with those from the "hothouse" environment of high school, and encounter them as we do now from the new perspective of a lifetime of experience. Me? I try to emulate having the wisdom of Yoda, but it doesn't always come off as sincere. I am. Sincerely, your friend Peggy Test.

Hi Darlene. I didn't know it was your birthday until I saw Sue's post. Happy Birthday and More Safe Travels! I imagine from Houston you'll be turning north somewhere to get to PA. Wishing you all the best.
