Dianne Christie,

Good to hear from you...I ended up in Texas and have never regretted being here. There is just something truly special about living here. Sorry you won't be at the reunion. Have fun on your trip.

Anyone ever hear from or about Mr Charles Thomas (English teacher), Mr Giardino (Science teacher), Mr Amster (Art), Mr Kerr (Science),  Mr Levine (Math), Mr McCoy (Social Studies) or Mr Walsh (English)?  Most were at Jr HS, I believe.  They all left a lasting impression on me and I would love to hear any news about them, having lost touch since graduation.

I remember reading on FB about his passing. I wanted to make sure I was right! Mr. Thomas passed in 2019. One of my favorite teachers!

Mr Thomas was one of my favorites, too!  He was an inspiration.  I regret not keeping better in touch with him over the years.

Doc Amster passed in December 2022.  He was married to teacher Patti Gatti for 48 years and they lived in Nyack.  Tony and I have such fond memories of him.  He was a wonderful man.

Wasn't that cool? Two teachers, falling in love, & getting married.

Very cool about Mr Amster's marriage!

He was an amazing art teacher and advisor.

I have only happy and fun memories of him.

Not sure Laurie (Barclay) recalls this, but we TOTALLY took credit for setting patti gatti up with doc amster during the teachers strike beginning of our junior year- I was also sad to learn of his passing...

Dear Classmates,

Time is of the essence. We are now less than one week from the deadline of September 25 to purchase a ticket to our 50th reunion! So, if you have been on the fence about attending, you must decide NOW! No one will be admitted at the door and Friday, October 13 is rapidly approaching. We have a fabulous evening planned, one not to be missed! THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER REUNION-THIS IS THE LAST HURRAH! After more than 40 years of planning reunions, Barbara, Leslie and I are DONE! John and Mies have put together an amazing evening of fabulous food and entertainment, so please plan to join us!

Sincerely,

Lis (Patsner) Hellwege

I am saddened to hear this will be our last reunion!  Thank you to our reunion committee for all the love and hard work you have done over the years.  I hope many of you who aren't attending will reconsider.  I'm looking forward to an amazing reunion!

Many thanks to Barbara, Lis, and Leslie for all they've done--FOR 40 YEARS!--to plan our reunions. They are a great tribute to your dedication and organizing skills. Thanks too to other supporters who may have had smaller parts in making these gatherings possible. You've all kept alive the spirit of Clarkstown High Schools. Well done!

As we approach our 50th reunion I want to thank Barbra, Lis and Leslie for their dedication, time and patience over the years organizing and putting together some of the best class reunions any High School could ask for. Plaese everybody give a big thank you to these wonderful ladies for a job well done and looking forward to this in a couple of weeks. Also want to thank John Yurtchuck and J.Mies Hora for their participation in making this happen as looking at the Rockleigh this looks like one really nice place.

The subscription for the reunion website is scheduled to expire in November this year.  Sometime before then, we will send out a survey to ask you to vote on whether we should keep the site available for another few years-  it's not expensive but we want to be prepared for the expense if classmates enjoy having access to the site.

We are so looking forward to our event next month- we thank you for your comments and suggestions and participation over these many years. Ticket sales finish tomorrow evening for the 50th Reunion and we'll see you on October 13th!

Earlier, a few had asked about Bruce Altman. Just a few days ago I happened to find his younger brother Philip on Facebook. We chatted a bit about old times - we were back yard neighbors growing up on Gregory St & Gail Dr  I asked him about Bruce  Sadly he said they haven't been on speaking terms of late but he did tell me that Bruce lives in New Haven CT  While I haven't tried to make contact, I thought I'd let you all know

Following up...I have reached out to Bruce Altman's agent and put in a request for him to reach out to me.  I mentioned that we are having our 50th High School reunion and many people are asking for him.  We'll see what happens.  Our families belonged to the same synagogue and my father was his mother's doctor...Anyway, we are all connected.
