These expressions were used quite often when we were growing up in the 50' and 60's.

1. I suppose if Billy stuck his head in a fire, you'd do the same.

2. Children are to be seen and not heard.

3. You will stay after school and clean the blackboard.

4. Go stand in the corner and face the wall.

5. Today we will practice our penmanship.

6. " Now I lay me down to sleep........"

7. I see London, I see France. I see someone's underpants!

8. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!

9. Turn on the television and let it warm up.

10. Just you wait til your Father gets home.

11. Go comb your hair, it looks like a rat has nested in it.

12. Don't cross your eyes they will get stuck.

13. No I don't have a quarter for you to go to the movies. Do you think money grows on trees?

14. If you don't behave, I will wear you out!

15. Here's a dollar go get some gas in the car.

16. If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times!

17. Clean your plate, there are kids in China that are starving.

18. Go look it up in the dictionary!

19. Get out your Think and Do workbooks.

20. Don't you ever forget when talking to an adult it is "Yes Ma'am",  "No Ma'am" and "Yes Sir", "No Sir."
