Comments:

40 years working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Lucked into a really good job, and had a lot of fun. Lived about a block of a small lake in South Akron, with a boat there and then kept our sail boat up on Lake Erie. Giving up sailing was the worst part of moving to Texas, and that may change the Gulf is a little to far but we have a couple of nice lakes within and hour or hour and half.

Donald Dewayn Barker, 67, of Princeton, W.Va., passed away on July 31, 2012, following a brief illness.

He was born July 10, 1945, the eldest son of Wayne and Ruth Barker, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two brothers, Timothy of Brunswick, Md. and Theodore of Aurora, Colo.; along with nieces and nephews.

Donald was a graduate of Weston High School in 1963 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from West Virginia University in 1967. He went on to attend the University of Utah, Columbia Pacific University and California Pacific University. He had been an employee at Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center in Princeton, W.Va. for over 20 years until his death. Donald or "Doc", as he was known in the Princeton area, was a psychotherapist. His passion for his work resulted in his receiving the Lisa Grossi Award in 2007 from the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction and Prevention Professionals. He was a diplomate and fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association, and authored several articles in professional journals.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory, 654 Athens Road, Princeton, WV 24740.
