Gene and I  were mutual best friends in elementary school at Connecticut Park. After school we would gather with nearby students and partake in baseball and all other outdoor activities as one would do in the late 50's.

He was very competitive and talented as a young athletic, even thoughe he was small in structure.  We would sprint together around the school after hours for the sake of an individual victory. We shared and exchanged  baseball cards and the weekly baseball stats of our glorious Washington Senators.

Moving on to the early 60's, I was selected as Caption of Patrols, my lieutenant selected was Gene.. We enjoyed our various resposibities in monitoring the other 25 stationed patrols. It was nice that I finally had rank over Gene!!

He was a special guy, always with a smile, exhibiting his warmth and genuine kindness to all. He will be missed.

God bless his family.

Rick Hazard.

I was deeply saddened to hear this news.  Gene was awesome person, always kind and friendly to all.  Good friend in high school and then got to see him often when he managed Giant Food in Olney, MD.    My thoughts and prayers for his family and friends during their time of grief.  May the Lord comfort them and give them strength.  Always glad to see Gene at high school reunions.  He will be greatly missed.

I'm so saddened to hear about Gene's passing. I wasn't really acquainted with Gene when we were at Wheaton. However,I never heard anything about Gene that was in any way negative. He was always very friendly to everyone. Gene will be missed.

I am reflective and saddened by Gene's passing. Even more so that I found out that Gene was a neighbor of mine in Pleasant Valley and didn't know it. I may have been one of the few who called Gene "Genie". Genie was simply a good man.

Very sad news. Genie and I lived one block away each other growing up in Wheaton. I have many wonderful memories of us playing so many sports together - golf, touch football, baseball - you name it I think we played it.  I especially remember playing baseball together - we were on the WHS baseball team together. He had true talent for the game and I always admired his ability. I saw him at the 50th reunion and we enjoyed reminiscing about our lively times growing up together in Wheaton - I was so glad we were able to see each other that day.

Sorry to hear this news. Gene and I were friends at WHS but really didn't hang out. We sat at the same table during the 50th reunion and reminisced about high school. I enjoyed our talk and happy to have had this opportunity. He was definitely a good guy. Condolences to his family. He will be missed.

I went to Gene's furneral as he was a great friend of mine and my first room mate to move into a new apartment in G'burg in the 70's. We lived well togerther and played tennis at night to stay in shape as well as going out to dance and have some drinks. Our main hang was the Holidat Inn in Gaithersburg having major FUN nights. He was in the US ARMY reserivce and I was in the USAF.  We also enjoyed our cars he had a fiat and I had a TR6, which we had a great time racing each other from time to time.

He will be missed.
