Yes!  Kudos to the organizers!  It was great seeing and catching up with old friends.

And, thank you for including me.  Even though my parents moved away in Aug. of '67 and I missed my senior year there, I always considered myself a WBHS student having gone to school there since 7th grade and lived there during those difficult teenage years, which were especially hard on me being an immigrant.

If you are passing through or near Pittsburgh, do get in touch - my husband and I will show you around.  Pittsburgh is far from the old smoky town that it once was and there's lots to do.

Glad you could reconnect.
If I am ever in Pittsburgh
I will take you up on it.

This is late, I have been on a two week vacation getting my home in Iowa ready to sell and then on to Washington Island, Wisconsin for continuing education.  The reunion was great.  Thank you so much to the committee for all the hours and hard work.  It was good to see so many classmates.  I look forward to getting together again!

Words can not express the AWESOME job the committee did to Celebrate our 50 Year Reunion!! It was impossible to chat with everyone. What a great turn out and not short on laughs. Everyone looked wonderful and great to share stories. I’m very proud of where I was raised and everyone that grew up with me. I’m going to try to make it back for Manitou Days on a regular basis. So fun. Stay Healthy everyone till our paths cross again❤️❤️🥂

Hello High School Classmates.

I just wanted to let you all know I have a new book that is hot off the press. It is called "100 Ways to Make a Difference - Creating Ripples of Love for a Lasting Legacy." It is a faith based non-fiction book sharing ways you can make a difference in yourself, your family, friends/neighbors, community, country and world. One of the items is stay connected with old friends. On this one I included a photo of our 50th class reunion. What an awesome time we all had.

If you are interested in ordering one of my books, just go to: www.donnafrawley.com and place your order. It is $25.00 which includes tax and shipping.

I hope to see you all soon at our next reunion.

Love, Donna

Charles Torning Profile Photo

Charles Torning

April 19, 1950 — June 29, 2024

Charles E. Torning (Charlie or Chuck)

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully in his home on June 29, 2024 after 4 ½ year struggle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). We know he would want to thank all the family and friends who helped make his final journey here as easy as possible. Your visits and time together helped make each day a little easier. He is now in a much better place and able again to do all the things he always loved to do.

Born in 1950, Charlie was the firstborn to Edward and Elizabeth Torning. He started life in the Midway area of St. Paul. With the addition of four sisters (Deb, Anne, Carol and Cindy), the family outgrew the Lafond Avenue residence and moved to a new home in White Bear Lake.

There Charlie graduated White Bear High School in 1968 and married Betty Reisinger to start a family of his own. Charlie and Betty had three sons together: Dan, Bob and Ian. They enjoyed camping together in the summers. He also enjoyed playing softball for many years in the men's league in White Bear where he perfected his pitching skills and later, he focused on league bowling. Both activities brought many life-long friends into his life. In 1980, the couple bought their first house together. Charlie built a masterpiece of a deck on that house one summer. Just a couple months ago, Charlie and his boys took a drive down memory lane, or in this case, Garden Lane and that beautiful deck is still there.

Chuck worked as a truck driver for Lake Sanitation in White Bear for many years. On rare occasions he would let the boys "hang on the back" of the truck (Hey, things were different in the early 80s!!). He later drove for Vasko Rubbish, where he made more great friends and memories. He retired in 2007 at the age of 57 with 25+ years of service there. He always enjoyed driving big trucks. Of course, he also liked getting behind the wheel of his Corvettes.

In 1990 he started dating a gal named Cathy Ryan. Together they had fun getting to know each other and their extended families and friends. After four years of dating, they decided it was time to take the next step in their relationship. Jumping in with both feet, they married and bought a new home on the same day. Together they had a great time setting up their new life together. They shared many evenings of "happy hour for two" to discuss their day and a quick game of cribbage before settling down for supper.

Chuck took over all outdoor chores. Whatever the season his projects were done flawlessly. Lawn always mowed, edged perfectly and never a dandelion to be seen. Winter snow was removed numerous times per day if needed.

Vacations were also a highlight in Chuck's life. Whether spending time with family at Eagle Beach in Northern Minnesota in the summer, a fun Caribbean cruise with special friends or family in the winter, trips to a friend's cabin for a weekend full of games and laughter or joining Cathy on a business trip or trade show, he was always ready to go and have a good time.

Chuck always enjoyed music and had a vast knowledge about it. In 1999 he took that enjoyment to a whole new level when he started doing Karaoke. He enjoyed it so much he bought his own equipment so he could practice and perfect his songs, plus it was an added bonus for Torning parties. Gulden's was his favorite place to show his talent; whether on a solo or a duet, he was always ready to get up and sing.

Known for his great ability to host a gathering, he loved to invite family or friends to his home. Whether a small group at the kitchen table for games or a large crowd in the special "Charlie Party Room" for Halloween, Christmas or an after-hour party, he was always happy to have people over.

Yes, Chuck enjoyed his life and loved a good time. Indeed, painted across the front of his new truck at Lake Sanitation, back in the day, was the inscription "Goodtime Charlie!!"

The family of Charlie/Chuck Torning would like to thank you for all of the support we have received in the past, present and time to come. Please join us on Thursday, July 25, from 4-7PM at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake to celebrate Chuck's life.

Sincerely,

Cathy, Dan & Nettie, Bob & Mew, Ian & Melissa

Jack Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by JP Moore Mortuary & Cremation Services on Jan. 23, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

In Loving Memory of Jack Walter Adams
March 26, 1950 – January 19, 2025
"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln
Jack Walter Adams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 26, 1950, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Jack was the cherished son of Walter Adams and Margerie Bernier. A devoted family man, he was the rock his loved ones leaned on, and his presence was a blessing to all who knew him. Jack's heart was as big as his commitment to his work and family, and he lived his life with passion, kindness, and integrity.
Jack dedicated his career to the Florida Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Operator Supervisor in Perry, Florida (Taylor County). His work ethic and leadership were admired by all who worked alongside him, but his greatest joy came from mentoring others-whether it was guiding his children and grandchildren or helping a friend in need. He lived by the motto, "there's always going to be a rainbow at the end of the problem," always looking for the good and helping others do the same. His positivity and strength were constant sources of comfort, and he was always early, always prepared, and always there for anyone who needed him.
A true lover of life, Jack had many passions. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, golfing, and following his favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings, with hopes of seeing them go to the championship this year. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, never missing a race. Jack's vibrant personality, sense of humor, and infectious smile made him a friend to all. His ministry of presence-simply being there for others-was one of his greatest gifts. He was a protector, a friend, and a hero to his family and community.
Jack is preceded in death by his brothers: Lee Adams, Gary Adams, and Bill Adams, and his sister: Amy Bernier. His passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but his love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those he left behind.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, LuAnn Marie Kendall Adams, of Jennings, FL; sons: Jason Adams (Amy Lawson) of Gilbert, Arizona, and Jesse Adams of Jennings, Florida; daughters: Jamie (Brooks) Adams Schooley of Oakgrove, Minnesota, and Jessica Schintgen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother: John (Farley) Bernier of Wooster, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; along with a host of other sorrowing relatives and loving friends.
Though we mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing Jack's spirit will live on in each of us, and the lessons he imparted will continue to guide us in the years to come. The love he gave to each of us will never be forgotten, and we will always carry his memory in our hearts.
