In Memory

Daniel Wink

Wink, Daniel Church Of Whitefish Bay. Born to Alfred and Dorothy January 23, 1948; married Carol Diercks March 23, 1975; died peacefully while visiting his grandsons in Cleveland on March 23, 2015. Loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Survived by Carol; their children Patrick (Samantha) and Katie (Barry Archer); and grandsons Bentley Wink, Jet Wink and baby Archer. Dan will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor and gentle, generous spirit. Throughout his life, he was a best friend to many adoring pets as well as a devoted owner to several Corvettes. Dan graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1966 and the UW-Milwaukee with a BBS in Industrial Relations in 1971. He was passionate about his work in human resources and education, serving on many school-to-work advisory committees and leading award-winning business / education partnerships. His memberships included the Wisconsin Association of Partners in Education (founding President) and the National Association of Partners in Education (VP, Strategic Initiatives and member, International Partnership Committee). He concluded his career at Independent Health Care Plan (iCare), and was dedicated to making it an employer of choice. iCare won Top Workplace honors multiple years. His family is grateful for the wonderful care Dan received from the staff at Columbia-St. Mary's Milwaukee in recent months. It was Dan's wish not to have a funeral. To celebrate his memory, his family suggests donations to America's VetDogs (vetdogs.org). Dan also left a legacy as an organ and tissue donor, potentially helping 75-100 people with his gift. "Waste not, want not." He has only gone as far from us as God, and God is very near.
