KAREN JENKINS

I moved to Ft. Worth after graduation and married my 1st husband in 1993. Had 2 boys in 1994 and 1998, then divorced in 1998. I had a chance to travel quite a bit and to live in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Dallas before I moved back to the north Ft. Worth area. I went to nursing school to become a registered nurse and have been employed at Cook Children's Medical Center for 7 years now. I love being a pediatric nurse and training the new nurses to our floor. I also charge nurse most days when I work which is a great opportunity to have more responsibility and mentor the nurses I work with. A few years ago I remarried. My 2nd husband was active duty in the US Army and we lived in Killeen and was stationed at Ft. Hood. We had some great times, went through 2 deployments to Iraq in which his 2nd deployment changed him greatly. He was working with Special Forces at that time and was a changed person when he returned (and not for the good). So, shortly after his 2nd deployment we divorced and I moved back to Ft. Worth. I was able to keep my job here while we were in Killeen so I always had one to come home to. I have been back up in this area full-time now for the last year and spend my free time with my sons. I still go back to Ft. Hood, Ft. Sam, and the NAS JRB Ft. Worth when I get a chance because my youngest son loves to see the planes on post.
