I graduated from MSU, and was a social worker in Wichita Falls for several years. I moved to Colorado in the late 70's, and attended Western State College to get my teacher certification. I married, began my family, and after ten years in the high Rockies, moved to Wisconsin. I received my Masters in Reading Education in 1991 while teaching reading in a large middle school in Wausau. I retired in 2010 after 22 years of teaching reading and English, and moved to Minneapolis to watch my grandchild grow up. I am working at Petsmart part time, in a school attendance office full time, and I am writing.
Update! I worked for a nonprofit center for children with autism over four years most recently, and have graded standardized tests, tutored, and with the pandemic may have retired for good! I now have four grandchildren and my own baby is engaged to a beautiful woman with two children, so that makes six! I have a new dog baby, a standard poodle.. my old dogs passed away two years ago. I hope to come to our 50th reunion!

My favorite teacher was my English teacher Mrs. Puckett. I remember she told us once that she could tell by looking at a person the type of literature that person read. It worried me no end, because I used to read my dad's dirty books that I found hidden under his bed. I guess she really didn't know, though. She believed in me, and I went on to become an English teacher because of her influence.
