that is funny, carrie! i always wondered why i love cats so much!? and mary... we should ALL go together to the old neighborhood! maybe saturday day or sunday day? that would be so fun. i have a "jeep grand cherokee" that would hold about 5-6 of us! i haven't been over that way in forever either. i remember many many afternoons at the Campbell's house. there was so many of them and i thought their house was so cool cause you could go in a continuous circle through it, so we would chase each other around and around that house.. i also remember discovering "powdered sugar" at their house.. her older sister was like 'here, taste this', and i decided that stuff was GOOD! us Euclid girls (and you were a part of that too, Mary and Kathy!)always had fun together and were always runnin up and down that street all day and half of the night! do you guys remember running behind the 'fogger trucks' that sprayed mosquito killer behind it? we thought it was so funny to play in that fog.. i would have a heart attack now if i saw someone doing that! its a miracle we didn't have 6 headed babies! marie and kathy... get to wichita girlfriends.. we need your stories there!! pllleeeaazzze?

OMG Chris - I do remember the "Fogger" trucks! It IS a miracle we're all still alive AND that we didn't have six-headed children. I'm sure those chemicals have been banned for at least 20 years! Gez - what people didn't know back in the day... You know, the flip side is I think our generation is more physically and mentally tough because of the times we grew up in. Not a bad thing. I think we grew up in "The Best of Times".

Yeah - sounds like I'll miss a lot of fun, but Sept 19 is booked up for me. September is usually swamped with new school activities (we start Sept 8 this year). With 3 kids, I'm pulled in all different directions because of the volunteer work I do at each school and between each of my kids someone has various sports, music, theater, etc lessons/activities every day including weekends. I also got strong-armed into teaching my 4th grader's religious ed class (cuz no one else would volunteer) and I have to go through 3 hours of mandatory training that morning. (I don't have a lot of patience & not really into teaching my own kids a lot of rote prayers, so not sure how this year will go!) Plus that night, and I know this is going to sound really pretentious, my husband & I are going to a charity event for Capitol Hospice at a nearby Lamborghini dealership where they'll allow test drives (big plus!). Two of our neighbors/good friends are the fundraising chairs this year, so that's why we've been invited (especially since we're allowing a week's stay at our new vacation home to be auctioned at their big fundraiser in November).

Have fun, tell lots of good stories, then someone report all of them in this message forum afterwards so I can read all about it!!

Sorry, not gonna make it guys and gals...found out in mid July that my oldest daughter has cancer. We have since found out her prognosis is very good, but I have been flying back and forth so much that I can't miss any more work. Will be in town over Labor day, but that will be my last trip for awhile, as long as she continues to do well on the treatments.....put her in your prayers everybody!

That is so funny about the fogger trucks. I was just talking about them to someone recently...We should have lots of fun memories to talk about at the reunion..Sorry for all the ones who have to miss the reunion this year but looking forward to seeing the ones who can make it..

Chrissie Palmer (Palmore)

yeah, no one here in Oklahoma has ever hear of "fogger trucks"! i am so glad to talk about things like that with people who not only remember those things- but were there!! we had so much fun growing up, southside of wichita.. we would head out when the sun came up and get back in when we heard our parent (or someone elses') screaming "time to come in"! when the sun was setting. i remember plenty of times at the canal playing and building forts. having "sticker fights" with those barbed stickers that grew everywhere! (i remember throwing one at my youngest brother, and it went right in his eyeball!) i got my butt beat for that one! i remember playing "red rover" with all the neighborhood kids..and i just remember lots of days of walking up and down Euclid street and hangin with the girls! TARP night at osage park! everytime i hear the song "henry the 8th", i think of being at TARP! and i remember that little store close to osage where you could actually buy candy for a penny! (my kids can't believe we bought candy bars for a nickle!!) wow. good times!

Cheryl Wolfe (Wyckoff)

Hey Chrissie,
remember "hey buddy, we'll give you a quarter if you go to the store..." We did that to Ron and Mike all the time! We peddled our butts all the way to Riverside park to see your grandma on our bikes but it was worth the quarter to get them to go to the store for us! LOL.
Camping came up at our house the other day and I had to tell about the trip camping where your folks (or was it Brad) had us convinced that if we "mooed" and rattled sticks in the grass the snakes would go away! I remember your grandmas WAY COOL house in riverside and grandpas car - wasn't it an old T-Bird?? All good stuff.

Chrissie Palmer (Palmore)

cheryl.. yes, that cracks me up! i still get grief from mike about that one... we used him so much back then to get stuff for us.. "hey buddy, wouldja go to the store for us?" too funny. and yes the camping trips were legendary. my dad would tell us bigfoot stories and then make us (me and my 3 brothers) sleep outside in a sleeping bag while he and my mom slept in the tent. we would lay there all night waiting to get attacked by bigfoot. good times! and Tim! ohmygosh. i have pictures of you and I at the prom! i think we went to the junior prom together? i think! what are you doing now? i hope to see you at the reunion! and kathy.. i am so sorry about your daughter. she will be in our prayers, along with you and the rest of your family. you will be missed sister!

If anyone is interested (and still standing) we're trying to get classmates to meet up for brunch (or red beers ;-) ) over @ Old Chicago out west on Sunday after the reunion. Whomever is still in town before you leave, swing by. Anyone who would like to join is welcome and it's a come as you are no reservations necessary kindof thing. Very casual (especially for anyone traveling home or coming from the hotel!) Just a fun way to cap off the weekend if you want. 12:00 or so. Everyone is welcome. Actually if anyone has a better place than Old Chicago...name it and we can change it!

BTW has anyone heard or know where Mike Rutherford is??? I have had a few people ask about him recently and I have no idea where or how he is?? I know he's one of many we haven't heard from but if anyone knows anything....pass it on plz?

09/10/09 11:45 PM #229

Raymond Berry

We have to have Rutherford, should we hire a private detective?

Some of my memories of Mike may mean he is actually hiding....!! He's the one that dubbed me 'hicky haskell waaaayyyy before I wore that badge of shame! I was in the 6th grade and every time I spoke in public, I got all red in the face and neck (kinda blotchy I guess you would say) and he would be sure to point it out. Somehow hicky haskell stuck. Nice to know you're out there Ray same time looking at the website. Your pix are great of your family. Looking forward to seeing you!!
