Following a couple of years of college, I worked at the Broadway Mortuary in Wichita for two years before going to mortuary school in Kansas City in January 1984. I graduated there in May of 1985 and returned to work at Broadway Mortuary for another two years. In June of 1987, we moved to Parsons where I worked for a funeral home there until 2000 when I started my own funeral home with Greg Forbes - the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. In the fall of 2004, we bought two other funeral homes in Labette County, one at Altamont and one at Chetopa.

I have always enjoyed singing and have been part of a Southern Gospel quartet called Redemption's Call for the past several years (since 2008). We have actually been to Nashville and recorded a couple of CDs. The last CD (August 2012) I actually wrote one of the songs, called "The Story of Me". It tells about my adoption as a young boy and all the changes that has brought about in my life.
