Two Daughters: Devon L Vickers (Dopps) (Domestic Godess/Housewife) of Shawnee Mission, Ks. and Danielle L. Herrington (Dopps) (Opera soprano/educator at WSU). Danielle and Dustin both are contemplating a move to the OKC, OK are in the near future.
My children are all Christians and happily married with wonderful spouses. God has blessed us with 12 grandchildren and more expected to arrive shortly.

My wife and I were married in 1970 and have been blessed as we walked through the adjustments and trials every marriage endures. This next September (2014) we will have been married 44 years. The bond we share with God in the center has remained intact primarily because He (God) was in the center as we struggled to smooth out the rough edges of each other in the daily grind. I am thankful for all my many blessings, but most of all for the saving power of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the providence I have experienced through my life as He sustains me to do the very job that He created for me, before He ever made me. (Ephesians 2:9-10). My hope and prayer for every one of our classmates is the same... that God's word sets forth when it says that "God is not willing that any should perish, but that everyone should come the knowledge of the truth and so be saved!" I would like to make a deal with everyone of you... if you help me get to heaven, I will help you! God Bless US All in our daily walk with Him!
School Story:

7 different colleges and Cleveland Chiropractic College, graduating from there in May 1985. Oh Yeah...66 years in the school of HARD KNOCKS as well.
Speaking of school story or school history... How many of you remember "SARGE" Sullivan... she was the English teacher our first years at West. Mrs. Sullivan was tough but fair, and not bad looking as I recall. WELL... I have been fortunate to have been able to treat her and her family for many years and for what it is worth... I am sure that she feels like some of you all paid me to get even with her...when I treat her. Just a look back for those of you who remember her.

I also recall the time that I traded classes with my twin brother Rick. When class began, I was conversing with the girl who sat behind him and the Mrs. Sullivan called class to order. After the third time asking for silence she came back and grabbed me by my shoulder and said very sternly "Richard I am not going to tell you again...you turn around right now!" I turned to face her and immediately she knew I was not Richard. Things went down hill rather quickly at that moment... When the dust had settled Rick was in more trouble that I was... He was in gym class for me and it was no big deal... Mrs. Sullivan on the other hand thought otherwise...

Wow, JoAnn many times your name came to mind as I was recalling childhood memories. I recall many special memories from Dodge School through Mayberry and West High Schools. I have a 6th grade pic of Mrs. Bachura's class. If I am correct you are in that photo as well. Sounds as if you have done well for yourself and have several grandchildren. May God continue to bless you and your family. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it you, that came to school one day and you father had suddenly passed. I could be thinking of someone else, but as I recall he was getting ready for work and you and your mother were in the kitchen and heard a thud. When you mom went to see what had fallen, your Dad had passed away. I am not sure if that was you, but all I know is that the incident left a scar on my memory that is still there today. It is one memory that I cannot erase. Did you also have an older sibling?

The death notice is definitely Vickie. We were in the same classes at Dodge School. In fact I have our 6th grade class photo with Sherry Hesket, Robert Daffron, Ronnie Phillips, Vicki Knowles, my Twin brother Rick Dopps, Joy White, James Sizemore, Dwayne Alender, april Gray, Jennifer Surface, Milton George, Dale Finney, Larry Arnold, Gale Watson, and myself in the photo. Have a blessed summer and keep going 66 Pioneers!

I had to good fortune to become reacquainted with John a few years ago when he worked on a VW that I acquired from a patient of mine.  His work was superb and the time spent with him was even better than his work.  His place was unique to say the least with many hidden memories of his late wife's artwork and unique expressions of her style of art.  John himself was a delight to pass time with.  Like Greg said, is stories were very enlightening and long after talking with him, things he said came to surface as tidbits of intrigue and somewhat mystical moments of the life experiences he shared.  John you were indeed special and will long be remembered.  Your passing leaves me with the desire to take life a bit more easily, breathe a bit deeper and savor the times spent with friends and family.   Rest in Peace John and thanks for the memories.  Dr. Rob Dopps
