Married 1974, had a wonderful son in 1976, and suddenly re-singled when my son was 3 weeks old! Spent the next 15 years working, going back to school, and most importantly being a single mom to a great kid.
Re-married 1991 and moved to Virginia, in the Washington DC area. Been living through life's ups and downs here, ever since. Helped my husband with one of life's greatest fights, beating brain cancer 18 years ago (his life expectancy was 4 months); then through 2 concussions.
Saw my son married, have children, go through 2 deployments (Iraq & Afghanistan); and receive accolades from the Surgeon General.
I worked at Boeing until Aug 1990 when I moved to Virginia. Have worked in biotech, hospital, & a software development firm (always in IT), and have spent the last 12 1/2 years working for SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
Now I raise pets. Currently between dogs; have 1 cat, 2 box and 2 water turtles.
Also raise vegetables - I have a large enough garden that I rarely need to go to the grocery store for anything other than corn - I don't grow that.
And, I paint. And make quilts.
Travel as often as I can. Mostly wherever the kids/grandkids are living, or back to Wichita to see Mom, who will be 102 this year. But also just about anywhere for fun, domestic or foreign.
Looking forward to the day I can retire (yes, it's a few years off yet) so I can add to that list of travel!
