Herbert Porter Jr.

I worked 13 years at Woodbine state school after graduation. In 1985 I joined Holly Beach Volunteer Fire Dept. and in 1995 SeaIsle City Ambulance. I'm a Lieutenant in both fire and rescue. Then from 1996 to 2001 I was a paid EMT for an ambulance company. June 2001 I drove a tractortrailer over the road for 9 months. Now I work for City Of Wildwood Public Works. Back in Oct. 27,2006 I was in a headon motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway. The other car cross the grass median and struck mine. I broke my left forearm and right leg. After 3 surgerys and therapy I've bounced back to 98%. Thank God for the 3 teenagers that pulled me from my burning 2003 Blazer. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone.

My funny memory was back in 1978 at the Press Festival in Atlantic City,at Boardwalk Hall. The Band had just finished marching and when we left the field, I was so nervous that i had use the bathroom. I remember putting my trumpet on chair and Kurt King, Kervin Alston both ran along with me. I had a lead on them and as I started through the door I heard NO Herb thats! I ran into the girls bathroom. It was full and no one saw me standing there. I turned around and had a 6 foot 7 flag girl staring down at me. I told her nobody saw me and I really have to pee right now, excuse me.
