Ralph A. Young

Ralph Albert Young, 58, of Lockport, a schoolteacher formerly of Wilson, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1987, at Lockport Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born April 6, 1929, in Williamsville, he was the son of the late Howrd and Winifred Parker Young. His wife, the late Betty Phillips Young, predeceased him in 1978.

Young was a teacher at Wilson Central School and the president of the Wilson Teachers’ Association for many years.

He was a member of Wilson Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Debra) Corica and Diane Young, both of Lockport, a son, Daniel Young of Amherst, one grandson, Joseph Charles Corica, one brother, Glen Young of Amherst, and two nieces, one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday only at the Hamilton & Clark Funeral Chapel in Wilson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Wilson at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with Father Paul Burkard officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Flowers are gratefully declined. However, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be gratefully accepted.

Daniel Young went on to become an ordained Roman Catholic priest and in 2014 serves as pastor of Good Shepherd Parish - St. Augustine Worship Site in Clarence Center, NY.
