I have been teaching piano and voice for 18 years.
I sing occasionally with a local band. As I write this, I am conscious of the rules for the use of the comma and the semicolon, pounded into me by Mr. Gorski. God, I hope I got it right. Hoping to see old classmates and teachers.
Unforgettable memories of Miss Balkwill's bookkeeping class. How we tortured that poor woman.
And on a happier note, Friday night dances in the gym at the old school.
Cathy's Latest Interactions
Mr. O'Gorman was my French teacher in Grades 12 and 13. He was a wonderful teacher and helped me learn the French I loved. Always made a special fuss over me. So thankful to have had him. And to learn now what a big family he had! We were so naive, we didn't know teachers had families! I will always remember him with fondness.
Mr. Sabo was such a good teacher of history - totally lost on me - and such a pleasant man. How I wish he could sit in my living room now and talk history - now I'm grown up and love history! Every time I think of him I remember his twinkling eye and how he must have understood that most of us just weren't interested - nevertheless, he planted a lot of seeds. I look back on him and marvel....
Sincere condolences to Jim's family. We lived across from them on Belle Isle View and I was friends with Sandra. My brother, Dave Calcott, was friends with Jim.
In sympathy,
Cathy Calcott
My sympathy to the whole Smith family, especially Mary Lou. Cathy Calcott

Hi Jim, I still read your columns sometimes. Yah, Riverside is sad now. Hope you and yours are well. We have 3 grandchildren here in Burlington - we're lucky. I often think of my years growing up with Carol, and Cathy Lewis, Riverside Presbyterian Church and John McCrae School. And the bridge club!!!
I have many happy memories of Mr. Sabo trying to teach us history in Grades 11, 12 and 13. We were such children! Now I love history but back then I had zero interest. Mr. Sabo was such a gentle man with a pleasant way about him. He had a passion for history and a lovely twinkle in his eye! I really enjoyed visiting with him at two reunions. Please accept my sincere condolences.
