I just barely scraped by to qualify for this website because I chose to graduate in 1969 instead of 1970. Unlike my big brother, Jack-ie, who chose to hang around a little longer than average, I decided to follow in the footpaths of someone I always admired and still do to this day - Jennie Dale. So it was off to nursing school in Toronto and then to work at Grace Hospital upon graduation. It was there that I became friends with my co-worker, Jane (Teahan) Geary, whose husband, Tom was my gr. 12 Chemistry teacher!
I know so many of you by name and have seen so many movies and photos and heard stories about you over the years. For those of you who do not know me by my birth name, it's probably because I was introduced to you as "Hec's daughter" or "Char's daughter", "Jackie and Sally's little sister", or "Little Spook"! I don't mind though because I am proud to be related to them all, despite the frequent comments at the first of the year Home Room Attendance Roll call. You can guess --- "Janet Barlow. Barlow? You're not Jackie and Sally Barlow's sister are you? Oh great - just what I need, another Barlow! groaaaaannnnnn"!!!!! My one claim to fame is I was the "good kid" that didn't get even 1 detention! (Or at least I didn't get caught except once, by Jenny Dale, for skipping school!)
I married in 1972 to "Mo" and we moved to B.C. in 1973 and have lived, worked and raised our family here since.
Janet's Latest Interactions
Being Jack Barlow's baby sister, I was one of those babysat by Vera. Jenny Dale and Vera were also inspirational in my decision to become an RN also. Only last year, Vera mailed me a letter I had written her when I was a student nurse in Toronto. Not only was that a thoughtful gesture on her part, the fact she kept it all these years amazed and humbled me. Condolences to family and friends ~ Janet Barlow Mosley
A lovely picture of Fran. Although I spent more time asleep in their spare room being babysat while mom and dad, Hec & Char, visited/partied with RUBC'ers, I would recognize her in a heart beat! I'm sure there's a party goin' on up there right now!
