James C. Rorig, M.D., 59 of Bay City, TX, passed away on Feb. 24, 2012, after a short battle with cancer. James was born to Kurt and Helen Rorig on Oct. 23, 1952, in Chicago, IL. Although medicine was his vocation and passion, he was a prolific painter and exhibited many of his works. He was also a gardener and an avid fisherman. He attended undergraduate and medical school at the
University of Illinois. For 20 years, he practiced medicine in Chicago at Rush Medical Center. Eight years ago, he moved to Bay City, TX to fill a need for General Practitioners there. He loved his work, his patients and the close community. He was passionate about serving those who could not otherwise afford medical care. His family is very grateful for the love, compassion and generosity shown by his many friends in Bay City. He is survived by his parents; sons, Brian and Benjamin Rorig; and his sisters, Elizabeth Marxsen and Miriam Rorig Low. A celebration commemorating James' life was held Feb. 28, 2012 in Bay City. Jim was a neighbor and school buddy--a friend who could always make you smile. He was someone who could amaze you with his brilliance and creativity. I am so sorry that the years took us so far apart, and I am saddened to learn of his passing. I am confident that there is more than just this life--and I know that Jim is now amazing others with that same brilliance, creativity and friendship.
