John Nicholas Brekel, Jr., 53, of Kountze died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at his residence.

He had lived in the area for eighteen years.  John served in the United States Marines for six years, was an Instrument Supervisor for Exxon Mobil, and a Master Mason with Sour Lake Lodge #1002.

John is survived by his wife, Vickie Brekel; children, Lorrie Hoke and her husband, Gerald of Kountze, Larry Carter Jr. of Houston, Shawn Carter and his wife, Gena, Shannon Overstreet and her husband, David all of Kountze, Leslie Summerville of Los Angeles, California, and John Summerville and his wife, Britni of Palestine; grandchildren, Karli Overstreet, Daniel Overstreet, Matti Overstreet, Darrien Hoke, Trysten Hoke, Nathan Hoke, Austyn Hoke, Austin Carter, Hunter Carter, Kainen Summerville, and Baby Summerville; mother, Linda Jenkins of Beaumont; brothers, Mike Brekel and his wife, Scarlett, Patrick Brekel and his wife, Mandy all of Beaumont; sister, Theresa Ramey and her husband, Rob of Nederland; step mother, Linda Brekel of West Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Nicholas Brekel, Sr.

His funeral service will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.   A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, May 7, 2012, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.  Cremation arrangements are being handled by Broussard’s Crematorium.
