In Memory

Richard Hamm

DR. RICHARD CARL HAMM

Quietly, in the early hours of August 11, 2009, Rick left us to be welcomed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. Rick was born March 8, 1959 in India, which was his home until age 11 when his family relocated to Canada. Rick was drawn to learning and enjoyed his years of study in architecture, theology, commerce and family medicine. He was a man with diverse interests and talents. His passion and drive captivated us. Each pursuit, be it photography, golf, carpentry or health care development, was given excruciating attention to detail and countless hours of planning. He was a compassionate doctor interested in a holistic approach to medicine, working towards an integrated health care model. Rick was a loving husband and father, who took pride in providing for his family. He shared with them his love of travel and adventure, enjoying many family vacations together. His faith in Christ Jesus was foundational to his life and was expressed through his service to his family, church, and community as he was able. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barb (Loewen); and three daughters, Rachel (Matthew) Winkler, Karis and Natalie; mother Betty Hamm and husband Eugene Bright; sister Carolyn (Greg) Bright and family; in-laws, Henry and Susie Loewen, Ingrid (Wilson) Anderson, Wilma (Dan) Wiens and family. Rick was predeceased by his father, Peter Hamm, in 1993. If friends so desire donations may be made to the South Eastman Health Community Mental Health Program. Viewing will take place in Steinbach at the Mennonite Brethren Church, 340 2nd Street on Sunday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the church on Monday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m. with a private family burial prior to the service.
