After graduation, I went on to play softball for two years at SCC while working on my AA degree. I then went to UCF and graduated with a BS degree in Communicative Disorders. I got married in '92 divorced in '93, Married again in '94 and divorced again in 2000. I had a son in '97. He is my miracle child. We had complications at birth and shortly after he was born he showed signs of respiratory distress....to make a long story short...he had to be intubated, given multiple blood transfusions and almost didn't make it. All of that resulted in brain damage and he has since been diagnosed with these: Cerebral Palsy, PDD-NOS (autism spectrum), Seizure disorder which he has up to 25 or more seizures a day of various types of seizures. He has a cortical vision impairment with partial blindness and has profound mental retardation. He has blessed my life in so many ways and shown me so much out of life in ways that I never knew existed. He has become my "teacher". I was then blessed with a wonderful daughter in 1999. Her name is Megan. She is now in the 4th grade and I think that she is going on 16. She all of the sudden seems so grown up and mature. My kids are my life and I am so thankful for them.
Ok...don't want to give anyone verbal whiplash but I moved to Ga in 1997 after Tyler was born and then moved back to Palm Harbor, Florida (by Clearwater) in 2005. I am self employed and work with the states early intervention program. My title is an Early Interventionist...I work with children and their families from birth to three that have either established conditions/ diagnoses or developmental delays. My professional background is in Special Ed., worked as an SLP under provisional teaching certificate, worked with children and adults that have Autism and Severe Behaviors.
I, of course, am still playing softball. As far as softball is concerned, the problem I have is....my body just doesn't do what it use to yet my brain still does....any game is a good game if I can walk away from it!
I have soooo many fun school memories. I remember toilet papering coach Luc's home....the many times we went to the beach instead of school. Powder puff was a riot! All the fun between softball, cheerleading and band (my freshman year).....too many memories. I remember Mr. Pelfrey taking one of my test and dividing my score by three because me, Kevin M and Jeff H. used to look on each others paper for answers....he never said a word until we questioned why it was divided by three and he said that it took the three of us to take the test so he divided our score by three.
