Kim (Shea) Richards is a WHS Alumni, she graduated a year behind us.  Kim has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.  We would like to accept donations on the night of the reunion for her and her family.  Below is a little bit of information about them.

'A CUP FOR KIM'

 Kim and John Richards are owners of Higher Grounds. Kim Richards is battling cancer. They own several stores in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. They employ over one hundred young people that attend our high schools and colleges. As a business, they are leaders in their efforts to support our community. They have generously supported our churches, schools, troops in Iraq and the list goes on. Despite their investment in the Fort Wayne community, they are losing significant market share to Starbucks. They have remained in business yet they have had to stop focusing on the competition in order to focus on Kim's 'fight for HER LIFE.' The Richards' family has had to make serious concessions in order to not be dependent on their business. They have sold their lake cottage, they are selling their home and they have accepted tuition assistance in order to keep their daughter in a catholic school, where she is surrounded by a strong faith community.

Higher Grounds makes and excellent cup of coffee. They are a symbol of the entrepreneurial spirit that makes our country great. Let's let our conscience be our guide and support a business that has supported us! By being good patrons, we can make the battle a little easier for Kim and the Richards' family.
