After graduation from WHS, I attended BYU for one year then Sacramento State. I quit college to work and prepare for my wedding in April 1966 to Joe Lesniewski. He was sent to Nelligen, Germany with the US Army, 101st Airborne Division where I joined him. Our first son was born there. We returned to Woodland in 1968 where Joe worked at Mobil Chemical as our family grew to 7 children. I returned to work at JC Penney's after being a homemaker for 15 years. Due to unfortunate incidents, we divorced in 1989.
I met bachelor, Jerry Irvine (WHS Class of 1962), in 1990 and we married later that year and stayed in Woodland until 2003. By then I was working for the Department of Justice in Sacramento as an Office Technician. I assisted the Crime and Violence Prevention Center in making a video called "A New Life... Escaping Domestic Violence" and wrote a poem to go on a wallet-sized card with hotline numbers on the backside of the card which has been distributed around the world. I feel pleased I have been able to assist other women to get out of the cycle of violence and become a survivor instead of remain a victim.
Jerry and I moved to Brookings, Oregon for health reasons leaving the hot Sacramento valley behind. I transferred to Pelican Bay State Prison in 2004 to stay with CA State service. I was the Administrative Assistant to the CEO over Medical Services and retired in 2011 after 18 years of CA State service. We currently enjoy our view of the ocean, gardening, church work, and spending time with our family.
