I was in Bobby's homeroom for four years. My memory of him was that he was perpetually cheerful, and always had an uplifting comment or joke for someone. He was the kind of person you enjoyed being around. I remember hearing the news towards the end of the summer of 1964; that there had been an awful car crash in Arizona near the rim of the Grand Canyon. This news struck me hard since I was invited to go on that cross-country road trip with Bobby and others, but turned it down since my focus then was getting ready for college and it seemed like a little too much at the time. It's amazing how even though someone may be gone for many years, how their spirit stays with you. For those who knew Bobby, his light must still shine brightly,

Bobby and I met in 1954, when my Family and I moved from Philadelphia to Montgomery County. Although we were't in the same third grade class, since he only lived a few blocks from where I moved to we met on the school bus, and we immediately hit if off. Bobby became my best friend, and he was truly the best friend that I ever had. He was kind, warm, extremely generous, and very, very funny. I will never forget that awful day when we learned about the crash. Linda McCray and I were watching the 11 o'clock news when they announced that students from Cheltenham High School had been involved in a crash, and that one had died. We didn't find out that it was Bobby until the next day, when my Mother came running over to me hysterical and sobbing" It was Bobby".

I still remember the last time I ever saw Bobby. Linda and I were driving around in my Family's 1962 Chevrolet Impala Convertible and Bobby tried to climb on the back of the car--he was always silly!

I will never forget this truly wonderful person.

My most vivid memories of Bobby Iskin are from fifth and sixth grades at Glenside Elementary.  During the World Series he brought a radio so the class could listen to the games.  I think he favored Brooklyn, but I may be wrong.  He was always fun to have around.
