I was on the CHS soccer team with Yoni. My memory of him playing the game was that he used to run circles around everyone, playing a European style of ball handling that left the defense frozen and the rest of us admiring his remarkable skill. He was a person of great confidence, dignity, and sense of purpose. Of course, he later became an Israeli national hero and a role model for those willing to sacrifice themselves for others. Yet even out on the wind-swept CHS soccer field you could sense his uniqueness. Yoni was one of a kind; someone who will eternally be honored and respected. Someone of whom we can all be proud saying, "I was in Jonathan Netanyahu's high-school class."

I was also "on the soccer team" (manager, meaning I cleaned up and watched the games from nearby), and I too remember Yoni as a clever person and a very skilled athelete. A few years ago I emailed his brother and, to my great surprise, I got a long, friendly email in return all the way from Tel Aviv. What a privilege to have had these two men among CHS graduates.
