I kinda flew by the seat of my pants right after graduating and made a lot of mistakes. I married in 92 but divorced in 97. I worked mainly doing nothing career oriented. I continued to play volleyball religiously anyway that I could and coached at BY for 3 yrs and also in several different Virginia High Schools over the last 10years. I went into the Marines in Oct 95 and did the reserves for the 1st term of my enlistment so that I could focus on college while working as an officer at Caswell Correctional in Yanceyville until 2001 earning my criminal justice degree from Phoenix University. While working at the prison, I met my husband Jeff (he was an officer too, not an inmate) and we married in May 99. I went active duty for the Marines in Jan 2002 and earned my associate's in 2005 while being a single mom to Lucas while my hubby served in Iraq from Feb 2003 to Sept 2004 with the US Army. (Jeff served in the Army reserves while working at the prison and was called up to serve as a military police officer.) I've was stationed in 29 Palms, CA, Camp Pendleton, CA, San Deigo, CA and served in Okinawa, Japan and San Juan Puerto Rico. I've earned up to the rank of a E-7/Gunnery Sergeant and I have plans to stay in and retire with 20 years. Currently, I'm in charge of a recruiting station in Lynchburg. After this year, my next assignment will be either stationed back in San Deigo, Ca to be a instructor or a Military Entrance Processing Liason in Petersburg, Va to process people into the Marines. I'm definately busy with my career but I enjoy every free moment with my hubby and kids. It's tougher to be a mom than a Marine definately but I love it. My kids are a true blessing from God and my proudest achievement is being a mother. My future goal is to plan on going back to college to be a teacher and teach high school and coach volleyball after retiring from the Marines.
