I had a wonderful childhood in Yeadon and many happy memories of movies at the Yeadon theatre, summer playground at Yeadon High, Dodgeball in the alley behind the 600 block of Cypress Street, playing Barbie's with Roe O'Neill, my oldest friend and flipping baseball cards with the neighborhood boys (rejects were clipped to the bike tire spokes of course). Wish life were that simple and sweet everyday.
Travelled the Parmley way, stopping at Ida's for an RC cola and a tastycake once every couple weeks (had to save 14 cents after all). Always last in line with Lori Flannery for May procession, usually forgetting my beanie, kleenex flapping in the breeze. Missed the 7th & 8th grade drama though. Left after 6th but still fondly remember double dutch at recess and chasing around the block top. Fond memories of some great teachers (Miss Dean, Mrs. Nash) and the the great Music Man production of 1968.
