Katherine (Kate Murphy) Toohey-Whitehead passed away March 2009 after a two year battle with ALS. She is survived by her husband Phil Whitehead, sons Liam and Nolan, sister Lynn and brother Tynan.
Kate will be greatly missed in my life and in the lives of all those she touched in her short time on this earth. I grew up with Kate, and spent some of the best times of my life at her home.She was one of the best childhood friends I could ever have. Our parents were very close and her father Bill was the best man at my parents wedding.She was a beautiful, caring person and my heart was broken when I heard she had died.
She touched so many hearts, and now she is with the angels... how lucky they are to have her.
Kate was my best friend for over 40 years. We went through our good and bad times together, and, no matter how far apart we were in miles, it was always like the day before when we spoke or visited each other. She faced the last and greatest challenge of her life with humor, perserverence, strength and hope. Kate will always be in my heart.
What a trip what a great family. Like many of us her house was my 2ND home away from my house. Always they were there even in the most difficult of times, questions never threatening always consoling making one examine his or her choices. Bill, Helen, Lynn, Kate and TJ what a great family of friends. I loved them. I miss them dearly. She was my best girl friend and we never took it any father, we thought about it, talk about it and mutually decided our friendship was too very important. Oh man do I have stories.
