Fondly remember the Chowder in Youngstown. Am in Anacortes Washington on a 56 foot Yacht waiting for parts so we can head up to Canada Fishing, Crabbing, Prawning. Wish I could be there  but my Condo at 1 Main is rented, and Marge is living with my sister in Burley ID 110 miles from Sun Valley. Life is good, love the West, the Moutains etc. Enjoy--will come to the 60th  Bill Stratton

Have worked the last 3 years at the Sun Valley gun club, as a level one instructor. It is lots of fun teaching youngsters 12 and up to shoot targets. We don't close till mid October. Don't think i'll be teaching at 78. This Yacht trip is the 2nd time I've been on this boat--did Ketchican to Juneau 5 years ago for 10 days. My hosts are older and won't have the Yacht much longer.  Enjoy..Bill

There is a lunch planned in Lewiston on Thursday, Sept. 11th @ 11:30 a.m. at the Lewiston Landing....I am going, along with Lee Verling and a few others have been invited.  If anyone out in Lew-Port reunion land wants to come for lunch....please come and have a pre-reunion lunch.  Figure that if we get there at 11:30 we could get a big table or put some together.  If you want to come just be prompt and we can have an impromptu lunch....francine

P.S. and the invite is open for meeting in Youngstown at my sister's house on Sunday afternoon for a pot-luck affair....for anyone still in town.  I am providing chicken, iced tea or hot tea and some sort of salad.  Please feel free to bring something simple, ex. chips and salsa, chips and dip, cheese and crackers.  Doesn't have to be elaborate or cooked.  Thanks

I was in the Fire Company Auxiliary for many years (about 25-30 years) and worked the food tent for most of them. The chowder recipe is close but there was no creamed corn, cabbage or clams or oxtail. We did not use neck bones. we used 90 pounds of chuck roast with the bones. The chickens and the beef were cooked and we had to remove all the bones (225# of chicken) For many years only fresh tomatoes and corn were used but the newer members were using canned corn. The spices were salt, and  pepper, garlic salt and parsley and the amounts depended on who was cooking it. My dad and husband were two of the cooks.  I hope this helps.

The 50th was so much fun!

I'm still raving about our 50th, and how great it was to touch base and converse with at least some of you. Many of my Rochester friends have just had or will be having one soon themselves. It's really special to see the ways we have grown and evolved. The tour of our old building was neat too. It looked so much the same - a well-built place with lots of TLC over the years.

Perhaps some folks will step up to the plate for a 55th, or we'll join forces with other classes, or ...

Ciao for now.

I'm so happy everyone had fun. We have a very special class because we have kept in touch for so many years. Here's hoping some of you will help in the planning of the next one!

My only regret is that I didn't get to talk to more classmates. I agree with Kathy.  We have a very special class!!!!

It was a success, wasn't it.  For all of our classmates who didn't make the 50th....I am personally planning the 75th and we will have wheelchair competitions, "wooden leg toss games", "put our glasses and glass eyes in a pile and find yours", among other games.  So looking forward to it.  I want to thank the committee for putting on a fun time and also to all of our classmates for having so much to talk about after all of these years.  I especially want to thank our men for talking to me and sharing your life stories.  I am so proud of all of us for accomplishing so much in our last 50 years.

I will post in a few days (after I recover from jet lag)...some of the most memorable stories and quotes from this reunion.  Francine

It was indeed a wonderful reunion and for me only having spent 3 years with you all in school and leaving before the last two I am so grateful to still be a part of this class and the great people in it.  I attended the 10th and the 45th and now this one and each time felt such a bond to you all and Lewiston in spite of the many turns our lives take.  You are all such dear friends and your spouses are pretty great too. Thank you again Kathy and Ruth for all of your planning and hard work to make this event so outstanding and fun!  xo

Just want to join the others in thanking all those responsible for putting the reunion together, especially Ruth and Kathy.  I have not been able to attend in a long tme, and it was wonderful to see everyone again.  We do have an amazing class and to be able to reconnect after all these years is truely amazing.    The whole weekend was awesome and being able to share it with Clark was wonderful.  So proud of all my old friends.  Can't wait for the next one!

Hi All,

We're so sorry We missed the reunion, but a favorite Neice was getting married at the same time (full week-end affair) in northern Vermont....really a tough choice!!

We love to catch up on old times, and are not big on social media stuff, but can be e-mailed at TOMTWH@CS.COM or Landline 315-904-4338 & welcome company @ Victor or Pultneyville, NY or in Cedar Key FL when there.

We would love any info or class lists (even by e-mail attachment) available, including 'memorials'..We'd be glad to cover copying/postage, etc.

Glad it went so well, awesome job to the organizing team.

Tom & Nan Hooker

Francine Wunk (Wunk)

Hi All....Had a great time talking to a lot of classmates, esp. the men....for some reason I asked about their life stories and got some great information about what had happened in the last 50 years....

Seems like when a group of men got together they started talking about the "good old days when they were wild teens"....like Joe Kulak, Lee Verling and Tom Cadille talking about how they would race around at night in their souped (sp?) up cars and outrace the cops, where they would hide and watch them sail past, etc.  During that conversation I asked Lee if he had any women working at his construction business....He took a moment and said, "I have a woman book-keeper"....and then he thought again and said, "and I hire girls as flagmen"....so I go, "Do you ever hire Mexicans as flagmen?" and his response was: "no-one would slow down for Mexicans.....the girls wear tight jeans so all the guys slow down....."!

Ron Franzek came to my pot-luck on Sunday and we started talking about everything....one story that I found interesting was when he was going to S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo, living with Phil Hilldebrant, and another guy, back from the Viet Nam war and they (he) started picking up hitch hikers trying to avoid the draft by going to Canada....they would steal a C.G. skiff down at the dock during the night and take the guys to Canada.  Don't tell the C.G. that I said that!!  Who knew, a Viet Nam era underground railroad.

And of course there was Paul Scipione talking about all of his "legal or were they illegal business deals" when he was young and maybe, correct me if I'm wrong Paul, in Viet Nam!!  I can't wait to read some of his books.

Last, but not least, a group of guys (nameless because I'm having a senior lapse of memory) started talking about Boy Scout Camp and how the counselors stayed drunk the whole time and they would sneak off to watch scary movies at the local town, etc......and there were probably a lot of Boy Scout stories that aren't talked about also.

All in all, it was great to hear some of the male-oriented stories.  And I realized on Friday night, that I had never dated in high school due to my dad not allowing me to date and I was very withdrawn also back then....that I didn't have any history with any of our fab men....so it was a clean slate on my part to talk with them all.

Francine

Hi Tom (Hooker)

You can see all the "In Memory" names on this website.  Look on the upper left side and scroll down to In Memory.  You will also find (when they're posted) reunion pictures under Classmate Profiles.  I think Stevie Hopper Faulkner will post them on her site because she has been collecting from other classmates.

I also posted a link to order the Reunion Memory book and class picture. You can order from the photographer's website or call them directly to order either one or both.  I have no idea where I posted it so will do it again on this page.

We missed you at the reunion!!!

Francine Wunk (Wunk)

Been thinking about all of the fun of looking forward to the reunion and coming "home" to Western NY.....it's sort of anti-climatical at the moment that all of us gathered and then went our separate ways.  It feels like we talked and talked, both here and other places, and now it's all quiet.  I liked having a "vacation" to look forward to and will have to wait until next year for another one...thanks to all of my clients who continue to go places and leave me with their cats and dogs.  It was a great party and I want to again add my thanks to the committee for creating a venue for us all to party and reconnect.

P.S....any more word on Sharon F.'s condition.  I think about her and keep sending her prayers.

Hi Class of '64! I laughed again at Francine's post about planning a 75th Reunion with wheelchair races, etc. Actually, I am wondering if anyone else is interested in planning a simple 60th, for 2024? I contacted a hotel in NF figuring they assist with large gatherings, but found out they want a guarantee of approximate numbers attending, want a deposit to book rooms, etc. That seems a bit much.

I have asked on our Facebook page a while back, but now my original FB account remains hacked so there are things I cannot do or see.

Someone suggested we simply piggyback on the Summer of '69 gathering, in 2024. That sounds the easiest to me! Perhaps some of us stake out a place to put our chairs early-ish, and plan to meet somewhere for a meal. I don't know the village as well as many of you, so suggestions are welcome.

My personal contact info is mcampaigne@hotmail.com, 585 288-2224 (landline), or via my reactivated 2016 Facebook account.

Cheers!

Who's interested in a 60th reunion?

Some have suggested we simply piggyback on the Summer of '69 Concert July12th! Link: Summer of '69 - Academy Park | Lewiston Council on the Arts (artcouncil.org)

Sounds good to me! Don Baker should be visiting then anyway, so we should see him there. My boyfriend and I are going, Perhaps we can plan on a lunch or dinner somewhere too. Suggestions welcome. Who is on board? I will post on other Lew-Port sites.

I just talked to Chris, who manages the Ontario House, AKA Stone Jug. The Class of ‘64 folks can meet there on Friday July 12th after about 4 pm. He’s setting aside a couple of picnic tables for us, somewhere near the food. I’ll set out balloons or something so you can find us. They will be serving hots and burgers, plus veggie burgers, plus peppers and onions. (He’s expecting about three hundred people, including the Class of ’74, and cannot manage a regular dinner menu for so many).

The concert at the Gazebo starts at 7 pm. Remember your chairs, blankets, whatever!

Great news! I got a call back from Chris Nowacki of Lakeview Motel & Cottages in Youngstown. She has rooms and cabins available for the 7/12-7/13 weekend, for just over $100. A real deal! I told her about our reunion. You can call her private cell. That number is (716) 523-3546.

Open for ideas of what we might do on Saturday?
