Allen Miotke - Class Of 1976

Allen Miotke

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Allen "Al" Miotke, 65, of Howell, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2023, with his family present after a brief battle with cancer.

Al was born to parents Aloysius and Virginia Miotke, on March 13, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, and was the younger of two children. He graduated from Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, in 1976, then was employed for over 45 years at AFC-Holcroft in Wixom, Michigan, until his retirement earlier this year. He had many professions throughout his lengthy career, from engineering to project management, and was well-known in the industry for being a 2nd-generation heat-treat manufacturing engineer.

Al enjoyed tending to his garden and taking care of his yard. He liked to stay busy and always found himself working on projects around the house or going for a cruise in his beloved yellow Corvette. Al spent his final years appreciating time at the lake with friends and family and loved taking boat rides and watching his grandchildren play in the water. He was also a devoted University of Michigan football fan -- Go Blue!

Al is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon Spiker Miotke, as well as daughter Sarah Widmayer and husband Thad, son Allen Miotke Jr. and wife Shanna, and daughter Kristen Owens. Al also leaves his five beloved grandchildren: Brooke and Hayley Widmayer, Khloe, Kylie, and Kolin Miotke, and his two dogs Spike and Max. His sister, Denise, extended family members, and many friends also mourn his loss. He was preceded in death by his parents.

His wishes were to be cremated and visitation for family and friends to share memories was held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. A memorial service to celebrate Al's life was held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, MI 48843.
