In Memory

Michael Pond - Class Of 1976

Michael Pond

Mike, age 66 of Canton, was born October 28th, 1957 in Rapid City, South Dakota, and was unexpectedly called back to God on January 3rd, 2024. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years Sandy, his children Jamie and Melissa (Matt), his mother Carol, his brother Fred, as well as countless other family and friends who will forever treasure the memories they share with him.

Mike was an amazing father to his children. He had a special bond with each child, taking the time to connect over different things. Jamie and he bonded over funny movies, both laughing when John Wayne would "beat up the bad guy". Jamie and he would also do Saturday morning bowling. Mike also assisted Jamie when he went to the Special Olympics for bowling, creating a dream team together in which Mike was the mastermind and Jamie was the muscle. Melissa and he bonded over their mutual love for music (especially classic rock) and cooking. Together they went to 6 different concerts and you would often catch them quizzing each other on music asking each other "Hey who sings this, or what band is this?". They also spent countless hours on the phone discussing different recipes. Mike was skilled in woodworking, and leatherworking. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, which he rode to Sturgis in 2006.

As Mike's favorite song says, "I am not frightened of dying, you know any time will do, I don't mind, Why should I be frightened of dying? There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime. I never said I was frightened of dying" Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd.
