Comments:

Retired from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta after 20 years, most of those years as manager of Family Services (social work, child life, chaplaincy and school program departments). Husband is retired from more than 30 years teaching at Emory University, Candler School of Theology. Son David is LT. in US Public Health Service working at Centers for Disease Control.
Continue to be active and committed to the work and worship at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta where Rod and I met and married many years ago!
Rod and I moved to a townhome in the center of Decatur, GA, about six years ago after living in the same bungalow in Atlanta for most of our marriage. We just wanted a change and are very happy. some describe Decatur as a blue dot in a red state! It is a small town surrounded by Atlanta with all the advantages of both.
I have a small garden which I am cultivating with native plants (not enough sun for vegetables:-(, feeding birds, and hoping to attract butterflies this summer, collecting water in rain barrels, and planning to seek certification as a Wildlife Habitat soon.
It's great to have the freedom of time with retirement - though it's hard to imagine how much time has passed since college graduation!

I am uncomfortable with re-allocating any of the scholarship money since it was given/designated for that specific purpose. It seems to me the committee would need to get permission from each donor to change the use of the funds from scholarships to rebuilding and repairs. And isn't the fund set up as an endowment with only the earnings used for student scholarships? If that is so, then there might be some issue with using the corpus of the fund for any purpose. My hope is we all can dig deep and contribute generously to the rebuilding, perhaps instead of contributing to the scholarship fund this year. That is my plan. Thanks for the opportunity to share my opinion. And thanks to the committee for its good work.
