Sorry to announce the passing of Mr. Charney:
Edward G. Charney of Winslow Township tragically passed away into Heaven on October 5th at age 76. Beloved husband of 52 years to Barb (nee Pinter). Loving father to Megan (Keith) Cormier; Amanda (Louis) Berardi and Glenn (Caron) Charney. Brother of Robert B. (Linda) Charney. Survived by Glenn Jr. and Salvatore Charney. Beloved PopPop to Connor, Katelyn, Leo and Bennett. Graduate of Overbrook High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Glassboro College for Education in Mathematics. Ed actively attended as a member of Laurel Hill Bible Church for over 74 years. He was in the choir, sang in the Mens Lazy Boyz group, was the Sunday School secretary since age 20, and held several positions such as deacon, auditor and treasurer. Ed was on the Faithful Followers Committee senior group supplying music for the monthly lunches and helped in the preparation for the meals. He continued taking weekly Sunday church attendance of the congregation for 5 decades up until his passing. He was willing to help serve his Lord in whatever area was needed. Ed was an educator for 41 years at the Winslow Elementary School (formerly Edgewood Jr.), teaching 8th grade math. He worked as a professional painter part time for the school system as well as on his own when not teaching. He had been employed with 30 Strikes (formerly La Martinique Bowling Alley) for 48 years up until his death. He bowled weekly on a men's Christian League for 30+ years. Ed was very active in supporting his children's many activities. He was a "band dad" and chaperoned many of the trips. Ed never missed any dance competitions or recitals nor did he ever miss any 4-H events held in Camden County to support or volunteer while his kids were involved. He was known to have held his camcorder on his shoulder recording each and every event. He enjoyed family time playing with his grandkids. Many trips were made throughout the year traveling to Lancaster and Cape May. He enjoyed gospel concerts and trips to the American Music Theater.
