Graduated from AHS in 1974. I was interested in aviation so I attended New England Aeronautical Institute (Daniel Webster College), a two-year junior college in Nashua, New Hampshire, graduating with an A.S in Aviation Management in May of '76.
I took a few extra months off back in Auburn trying to "find" myself before heading back to college at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL in March of 1977. I guess I couldn't stay away from the schools that had "Institute" in the title...hmm...
Graduated from there with a B.S. in Air Commerce in March of 1979, joined the Navy and started Aviation Officer Candidate School in April; commisioned an Ensign in July, married Nancy Hackney from Melbourne on September 30th and started flight school three days later in Pensacola, FL.
Twenty-six years, three kids, 13 official moves later I retired from the Navy in 2005 as a Captain. Nancy and I stayed in Virginia Beach and I went to work with a former navy colleague in the remodeling business. I started my own remodeling company in 2010; Hewitt Remodeling Services LLC.
I am presently the President of the Board for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk.
