This is so much fun. Come on everybody; write something to catch us up.
2008 - After graduating from CHS and CSU I came to Salt Lake to teach school. Taught in Granite, and then Jordan. I retired 2 years ago but still do a little subbing at my school. My partner lets me come to read to her class every day, and I have a geology presentation that I do with the 5th grade. Keeps my hand in it a little. I was really involved with UEA. I was on the executive board with Jordan for 12 years and served on the UEA political action committee. I got really tangled up with the legislative races for SL County and usually work on several campaigns every election. I also spent a good chunk of time at the Legislature the last two years helping UEA lobby and monitoring what was going on. It is enough to make you insane! Why do I enjoy it?
I married a SLC man but have him thoroughly converted to a Southern Utah rat. He loves it as much as I do. Mom moved up near us when she retired, so we lost our roots and feel a bit like tourists when we come down. The kids (and all their friends) love to spend Spring Break in the red rocks.
The kids keep us busy. Jeremy provides the grandkids at this point, Josh drags us fishing (they fish, I read) and aids and abets my geology habit, and Cara has pulled us into the art community. My husband has even had an art show of his own due to her encouragement, and we have all had a few pieces in some open shows.
I'm old, slow, creaky, stiff, and the hearing is going far too soon, but I can still cause enough trouble to keep things interesting.

May 2012 - Had a delightful time bringing the family down to Newcastle to watch the solar eclipse. Set up in the cemetery with 3 generations of ancestors and had a peacefully perfect view of the event. Amazing to see the people gathered in our tiny town.

Besides high school, Bobby and I were alums of the one-room school in Newcastle.  13 of us in grades 1-6. We had the largest "class" because there were 4 of us in second grade - Rodney Forsyth and Jim Tullis were the others.   All the other grades had two students each. Ten boys, three girls, and a first year teacher (who turned out to be terrific and became a highly respected and loved member of the community until she passed away a couple of years ago.)

All night Monopoly or Canasta games, learning to drive in my mom's car, movies and dances, trips to Bryce, dinner in the canyon, sunburn recovery after field day, so many good times.  Kent was very much a main thread through all the growing up years.  We stayed in touch up through his diagnonsis and it is painfully clear how sporadic that really was.  I'll miss the almost intense and always interesting letters that made me wish for less geographical distance and more time.

Taken at Glacier a couple of years ago. A mountain goat tried to eat my shoe lace. Honest.

Trip up Cedar Mountain before heading to Newcastle for the solar eclipse, 2012. People were already setting up telescopes here by 1:00 for the eclipse at 6:30.
