Virginia “Ginny” (Dean) Giese

Kalamazoo, Michigan

Virginia “Ginny” (Dean) Giese, age 80, passed away at home on Friday, March 10, 2023 with family by her side. Ginny was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 23, 1942, the daughter of the late Herbert P. and Virgie A. (McAdams) Dean. Ginny was a life-long teacher and tutor. She was a dedicated volunteer and an active member of many organizations, including the Ladies Library and Bach Festival Chorus. She loved to travel, garden and was an avid reader. Ginny was a deeply committed Christian and long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the Trinity Quilters group and the Alter Guild. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. On December 21, 1963, she married E. Robert Giese, Jr., who preceded her in death on March 29, 2005. Ginny was also preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert P. Dean, Jr. and James C. Dean and her sister, Helen D. Keller. She is survived by her two sons, David (Linda) and Allen (Maria) Giese; grandchildren, Perry, Benjamin and Ellie Giese; sister, Peggy Allen; special nieces, Patti Gulley and Terri Arney; as well as several other nieces, nephews and extended family members. A memorial service to celebrate Ginny's life will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Private interment will take place at a later date at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Residential Opportunities, Inc. or the ALS Association. I'm so sorry to hear about Ginny's passing.  We had many fun times at Chorus performance rehearsals.  She was always upbeat and smiling!
