Ruthann Notar Schmid

So many memories of Schurz, the G.A.A., chorus, The Mikado, chemistry with Mr. Goodwin, football games and senior year activities. Upon graduation, I worked at Prudential Insurance Company. In 1961, I married my high school sweetheart, Arthur Schmid, (he was a 1959 graduate of Steinmetz). We raised our 3 sons in Park Ridge, IL., David (Susan), Daniel (Sandi) and Steven (Kim). We have 6 awesome (of course) granddaughters, Leah, Robin, Jamie, Bailey, Morgan and Kasie and 2 terrific grandsons, Sam and Mark. I worked several years as a secretary at our church and then at a dental office as the office manager. We had our own business, The Bellows Shoppe, a metal restoration and antique lighting store in Winnetka until our son, Steve bought it from us several years ago. Now when we are in town, we work for him! We enjoy watching our grandchildren and traveling. When our son Dave and family were transferred to England 12 years ago it gave us the opportunity and incentive not only to visit them but to travel Europe as well. They have since returned and live in close proximity to us as well as our other children. I took the training to become a Stephen Minister and have had the opportunity to work with several care receivers over the years.
