Andrea J. Gauger (nee Schmidt), age 83, of Sleepy Hollow former many-year resident of Park Ridge passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Mrs. Gauger was born in Evanston on July 13,1939,
and was the daughter of the late John C. & Frances M. (nee Ottesen) Schmidt.
Mrs. Gauger was a resident of Sleepy Hollow for the past 16 years. She was a 1961 graduate of Concordia Teacher College in River Forest. In 1972 she earned her Masters’s Degree from Northeastern Illinois University. Mrs. Gauger was a called professional church worker and teacher. She taught English, reading, and speech and also served as Registrar at Luther North High School in Chicago for 40 years prior to retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years Melvin E. Gauger, their son Rev. William J. (Janice) Gauger, and her brother John Schmidt.

Family and friends will gather for Funeral Services on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee with Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor officiating. A private family committal and burial will follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Elmhurst. Visitation will be held in Luther Hall at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church 310 E. Main Street in East Dundee on Wednesday from 3-8 P.M. and again on Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
