Craig S. Frommelt, 66, of Rock Island, formerly of Moline, passed peacefully early Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, while in hospice care at Aledo Rehabilitation & Health Care Facility.

Cremation rites have been accorded with Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his hospice nurses and the Bridges Unit staff at Aledo Nursing & Rehab for their care and companionship during his last years.

Craig was born on Nov. 19, 1949, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Eugene and Charlene Blum Frommelt. He was one of seven children. He attended Dubuque Senior High School and was later stationed in Germany while he served in the U.S. Army as a driver and mechanic. He married Stacy A. Reed on Aug. 27, 2001.

Craig worked for John Deere for most of his life, retiring after 30 years from John Deere's PDC in Milan. After retirement he enjoyed driving as a courier for Wells Fargo with his German Shepard Greta, who preceded him in death. Craig was known for his smile, a laugh and baking the best cookies around. Throughout his life he loved trout fishing and camping in Northeastern Iowa, which he shared with his wife Stacy, who is left to cherish his memory. He is also survived by his companion, Buddy, a black cat, and son, Adam C. Frommelt, of Chicago.
