Loras James (Tim) Hanson

Loras J. "Tim" Hanson, age 65, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 14, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center. To honor Loras' life, services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1755 Delhi Street, with Pastor Dave Raemisch officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Loras was born on February 15, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Leonard and Evelyn (Launspach) Hanson.

Loras was united in marriage to Linda Wickman on June 20, 1987, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and they were blessed with 28 wonderful years together. He worked as a draftsman for Panels Unlimited and also enjoyed earning a little extra income for his family driving the minibus for Project Concern and as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut. In his free time, Loras loved to share his natural talents and gifts of music by singing and playing guitar. He was a very faithful and longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Choir. He thoroughly treasured spending time with his family and his favorite moments involved loading everyone up in the car to go for a nice drive and out for dinner. Loras was a kind and determined man who always put others first and made the most of each day and every situation. He has been called home much to early but thankfully the memories he leaves behind will help to mend and heal the hearts of all who are grieving within his absence.

Loras is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Hanson, Dubuque, IA; his two children, Benjamin Hanson, and Erin Hanson, both of Dubuque, IA; his siblings, Leonard John "L.J." (Jean) Hanson, Dubuque, IA, Lois Schmitt, Dubuque, IA, Lorraine (Herb) Schmitt, New Mexico, Bonnie Scherf, Dubuque, IA, and LuLu Hohmann, Dubuque, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Loras was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Lester Schmitt and John Scherf.
