Gone But NOT Forgotten

Allan L Marting

Email from Allan, Fri, Jun 19, 2009

Wesley,

I haven't been able to respond. I have been suffering through the disease known as Lou Gehrig's disease. (ALS). I have been told by one doctor - 6 months to live.  Effects of disease started last this past Labor Day. Finely received ALS diagnosis in March/April this year. My wife Carole has been very help full.  Getting very tired. Will close for NOW.

Take care, Allan Marting

Email from his wife, Carol, Feb 15, 2010

This is Allan's wife letting you know Allan died this past Friday night (Feb. 10, 2010). It was a terribly hard battle as he ended up unable to walk, talk, eat or swallow(did tube feedings) He died peacefully in his sleep after lungs failed and CO2 buildup. He never complained and was such a fighter. I was his only caregiver so I am drained and miss him very much. Memorial servivces are in the process and probably not for week or two. I just wanted to let you know and perhaps you could pass it on. We moved to a handicap senior living apartment so any correspondance should go to: 6015 W. 119th St. # 2126, Overland Park. KS 66209. We are collecting some photos of his past so if anyone should have one it would be appreciated. Regards, Carole Marting
