I did not really fit the school system
the story:
the day Mike Barnes was nearly knocked by Brian Porter(now deceased),when Barnes started trying to bully a small fellow in our class.
Brian was a quite and gentle person --son of a Baptist minister--social justice was his hall mark. A Mike BARNES was always a bully.
I was in the most stupid class in the school 10 LF, with 8 periods of Latin a week, Latin classes after lunch ,saw few attend with the likes of Henry Harkom climbing out the window to go surfing. Max Draper the teacher an absent minded Oxford scholar, did not
really mind the tide had gone out with few Latin scholars left to appreciate CAESAR'S Gaelic wars or Ovid's Metamorphoses.--in fact he hardly noticed people were missing

did the comrades, did the umzodozi canoe event, became a political activist after 1975 ,went to university, immigrated to Australia in early 1980's
