Obituary of Rodney Wayne Edwards

Rodney W. Edwards

1951-2022

Rodney Wayne Edwards, 71, of Kingwood Tx, was called home on Tuesday, October 18, after a relentless fight with cancer. He fought as a warrior. He was peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Vicki Edwards; his sons Shane and wife Cortney, Boyce and wife Melody, Dustin and wife Allison, and Toby and his fiancé Kia; Grandchildren Corbin, Grace, Bailey, Ethan C., Riley, Presley, Boyce Liam, Ethan J, Chase, Kevin, Aiden, Logan, Ainsley, his sisters Jan and Sandra, nieces and nephews, and more friends than can ever be listed.

Rodney was born on January 27, 1951 to Boyce and Eleanor Edwards in Shreveport LA. He grew up with three loving sisters, Jan, Sandra, and Becky, his baby sister who proceeded him in death, along with his mom and dad. He met the love of his life, Vicki, and married her May 7th, 1977. Together, they raised their boys. Rodney built his business in Athens Tx. where he became known for his craftsmanship. His mark remains visible throughout the area. As a founding member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church, Rodney served his Lord and led his family and friends to Christ through his example. He loved his craft of welding, fishing, riding his motorcycle, camping, being with friends and family and he always had a joke to tell. His laughter was infectious and his stories were full of life. Rodney had many lifelong friends and numerous friends of which he shared a deep affection. Throughout his battle, he remained steadfast in his faith and selflessly prayed for his family and children. In the end, Rodney’s life of servitude was repaid to him by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank George, the special man who tenderly cared for their loved one; and every friend and family member who took the time to reach out and encourage Rodney. The family will announce plans for a future celebration of life.
