Phil Barber VIEW PROFILE

Phil Barber

I received an email from a friend of Phil's stating that he passed away yesterday (12/29/10).  I copied this picture (added 12/2009) from his facebook page, which is still up.  He is survived by his 4 sons, the oldest of which just graduated from high school this year.  Following is the obituary from the Milledgeville, GA newspaper:

MILLEDGEVILLE — Philip Barber, 50, passed away at his home in Cartersville.

He was born April 4, 1960, in London, England, to Mrs. Hilda and Phil Barber Sr.

He graduated from Paige High School in Greensboro, N.C., in 1978. Phil then received his BS in nursing from Georgia College in Milledgeville. He then received a Master’s of Science in nurse anesthesia from Minnesota. He owned his own anesthesia corporation reserve anesthesia. He was a loving and devoted father, son and brother. He will be remembered for his commitment and devotion to his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Williams Funeral Home, 1670 N. Jefferson St., Milledgeville.

Cheryl,

Thank you SO much for posting the link to the tribute.  It brought tears to my eyes.  Phil was such a great guy during our school days and always had a smile and a nice word.  He will be missed.  Just another angel to watch over the rest of us.

I will never forget the first time I met Phillip on a bus ride to Mendenhall. He made us all laugh with his British accent. He was a favorite friend from the moment I met him. I sat with Phil and his wife at our 30th reunion, and it is very odd, as this was the first reunion I had ever attended. He was so proud of his family, and he showed me pictures of his beloved sons. I'll never forget the soccer player who brightened our bus rides home in middle school, or the father who so loved his sons. Rest in Peace dear friend....see you, when my Page Pirate ship sails home.
